This is an intranet of your actual non-anonymous neighbors. Make a post like, "ISO recommendations for good respite care" and people who live in your zip code and nearby will respond very quickly and give you the best unvarnished opinions and recommendations. Far less work than trying to research and visit random places.

Search in your area for a few facilities that will meet the needs of your LO. (MC vs AL)
Tour a few.
Ask what is needed to have your LO accepted for Respite.
In most areas you will need:
Physical or note from the doctor stating they are in good health.
List of medications that are prescribed.
A TB test will probably be needed and in some areas a 2 stage test. (can be a blood test that is just one blood draw as opposed to 2 skin tests)

If your LO is on Hospice Hospice will coordinate the Respite and it is covered by Medicare/Medicaid and most insurance. If your LO is not on Hospice the Respite will be an "out of pocket expense"

To get any useful answer, you need to state whereabouts you are! Air flight to respite is not practical.
