I was living in Florida and working 2 jobs when my 78 yr old mother who has MS, is paraplegic, an amputated leg (above the knee), had 2 strokes and 2 heart attacks called to ask if I would care for her. Without hesitation, I came home. Now that I have no time what so ever to work I have no money for my self. It is a 24/7 job. I can't leave her alone to go to work. She doesn't really get all that much money a month from her retirement so it's really hard to pay someone to come into the home to help out. Can I get paid thru the state or government for caring for her even if I live in her home?

I doubt it though it would be up to you to research. If she is on Medicaid you may have some slight chance dependent on your state. Call Medicaid in your area. You can check with you local Council on Aging or Agency on Aging and ask if they are aware of any way. Usually the only way to get paid to care by family is if family can afford to pay you.

We get this question at least 10 times weekly; truth is that you really need to do the research on this yourself for your own area. Good luck.
