SSI meaning Supplimental income or Social Security? If Supplimental income, why not Social Security Disability?

Call your office of Social Services and talk to a Medicaid caseworker.
Call your County Disabilities Dept.

I have a disabled nephew who can live on his own with some overseeing. The best thing I did was to call the Dept of Disabilities in our County. He now has people. A co-ordinator, an CBS aide and his rent mostly paid for. The aide comes once a week and he takes nephew to the bank, shopping, out to lunch and to appts. Things I no longer have to do.

You really need to look to the future. Who is going to take care of your son if you become ill or pass? Now my nephew has people, they watch over him. My daighter is secondary on the POA but she has a job and a life of her own. If nephew had no family, his people would make sure he was cared for.

Yes, he has SSI for his disabilities, however, he is unable to live alone.

Thank you for your comment.

Some states and counties have programs where the family caregiver can be qualified to be paid. It may not be full-time hours and it probably will be minimum wage.

You can do a search in your county's social services and disabilities website pages or call social services for your county to find out more information.
