She will be tested for Lewey body dementia. My problem right now is she is seeing people that are not really there, hearing people talk to her, when people aren't talking and today she accused My husband of beating me and now I have bruises all over my body ( I dont).I don't know what I'm supposed to do.I have made some phone calls and someone will be out on the 26th of this month to do an assessment. What do I do until then? My husband is disabled and when I go to work he is the one to take care of her.She is wanting to leave but has no where to go.I just need help and I don't know where to start.
Sorry about this, all part of the disease.
Are you her POA?
She will soon not be able to be cared for in the home if this is Lewy's. It is what my brother had. The hallucinations are quite real. My brother could describe entire garden and pool parties, immigrants huddling in his room attempting to protect babies and so on. They were like waking dreams but more real and he could give all the details. At times he had brief difficulty with swallow and he had severe balance issues. He prayed he would be allowed to die before it robbed him of all he was. He put me in charge of his Trust and his finances. He went into Assisted living. He died very soon after of sepsis. It was what he wished for and it is what happened due to a small sore on his shin.
Do please tell us more about your mother. Her living situation, how long this has been going on, her assets and etc.
If there is no POA it may be too late to do that and you will need APS to visit and let them know you cannot care for her in your home, she must have placement, and either guardianship by you or by the state to manage her care if she will not allow anyone to do so. Be guided by them as to how to proceed after diagnosis.
