My grandma fractured her hip about 3 years ago. Never had surgery/PT. She’s diabetic and has a lot of medications. Recently, she was admitted because of kidney dysfunction and she is drug dependent whenever she feels pain, she immediately wants to get medicated. So fast forward, she’s having her dialysis now which is 2x a week. I visited her recently and she’s doing good. But we noticed something from her behavior, she told us stories that never happened. And she kept telling us that it did. Until we told her that she never left home and never went outside and from there she agreed to us that maybe it was just a dream. Is this a possible side effect of the dialysis? Or what other conditions can be linked to this? Thank you!!
Some years ago my father related an event that affected me, but I had no memory of it. It would have been in the mid 1990s, but I just could not remember it. Apparently Dad did though.
I think as we age sometimes recollections become less clear if not distorted, and it has nothing to do with mental acuity. Even though humans apparently don't use all of our mental capacity, sometimes it just can't handle any more. Some of us have smaller filing cabinets in our brain than others.
