So many people do not realize that your loved one can use hospice not just if he or she has cancer. Google it "eligible for hospice guidelines."
From experience, my husband, diagnosed with CHF last January and has other complications (like RA and Peripheral Neuropathy - latter 2 not life threatening, but once CHF was diagnosed and after 7 trips to hospital in 1 year) our home health nurse suggested hospice. I called and they came out within a couple of hours and to assess and accepted him - oxygen delivered same day - medical supplies sent as ordered, most meds covered and delivered to door, unfortunately in last few days my husband has gotten worse - now in a hospital bed provided by hospice delivered (so fast) - I think he will pass soon but be at peace, but major thing is 24/7 they help. God Bless them!

I'm glad you didn't wait until the very end to bring hospice on board as many folks do, but I do want to clarify your second to last sentence where you say "24/7 they help." While folks at the hospice office are available 24/7 if you have any questions/concerns, they do not offer any in-home help 24/7 except at the very end if you request them to.
Otherwise you are responsible for 99% of your loved ones care while hospice does 1% of the care.
I know, because my late husband was under hospice care in our home for the last 22 months of his life and I was the one doing the 99% of my husbands care.
And sadly in my case when I did need them more towards the end they failed miserably. But that's another story for another day.
I'm glad you've been pleased with their services thus far.

I am so glad you have Hospice in, S. I am glad you seem to have a good and dedicated crew and they are getting more and more rare as hospice becomes more and more the honey of the hedgefunds. I wish you as good a holiday as you can have in the circumstances.
