Mum has dementia and incontinence and wears incontinence pants.
however, she does also go to toilet and when she does it comes out it drips and drabs, a little bit at a time.
She wipes herself and this wiping seems to activate the bladder to go again. Therefore every toilet visit is a bit of a mess. It’s almost like she presses a button down there and starts.
Whats more frustrating is that it also happens when she dries herself from a shower with the towel. As soon as the towel is pressed in any way on her crotch, peeing starts.
Yesterday she had shower and the towel activated the peeing. I had to pop her back in the shower for a quick rinse. 2nd time, we just had to not dry her down there after shower and put her incontinence pants straight on which you can imagine is difficult on wet skin.
She was on a waitlist for incontinence surgery before the dementia. 4 years later she finally got an update but by then she had dementia. I said we were still interested but have not heard anything further.
ive tried to google different incontinence problems but haven’t found what relate to peeing activating once touched/pressed.
Even when she is on toilet, she puts her hand down there and presses something to go?
One suggestion to try, instead of giving her toilet paper to wipe, you can use a squirt bottle and squirt her to get her to pee more. See if that works.
