I'm conservator and my sister is bedridden but can sit in a wheel chair. Aides use a Hoyer lift. The Care home (6 patients and 2 Aides). don’t bathe patients weekly like I want. They use wipes. Has anyone hired someone to come in for hair shampoos or showers? I’d like to bathe sis but there’s liability issues. Only staff can bathe. I hired a physical therapist for massages and I’d like to hire a nurse to come in weekly for bathing. Any ideas?

When my late husband was completely bedridden for the last 22 months of his life, and under hospice care, the aides came twice a week to give him a bed bath which worked quite well for him, and even during Covid, when hospice wouldn't let the aides come for 5 months, and I and my son had to do it ourselves, it still worked well.
And I too used the extra large body wipes for the in between bed baths, along with the waterless shampoo and conditioner caps to wash his hair.
I would imagine that you learning how to give a bed bath would be much easier than trying to get your sister in the shower at this point. Just a thought.
And I can't imagine that there would be any "liability" issues if you keep your sister in her bed to bathe her.

Does the care home have a roll in (no threshold) shower? To me, that is the only safe option so if they do, I’m curious as to their reasons for not showering her. How are her sitting tolerance and balance for example? Does she want to shower or does it make her anxious?

Also, the staff should be doing a full bed bath part of the time, meaning with water and no rinse soap, inc washing hair. Wipes have their place but they do not a full bed bath make.
