Find Care & Housing
The only agency that may help you is Medicaid in home. But grandmom must fit the criteria income wise.

Traditional Medicare doesn't cover this kind of care. And supplimentals usually only pay the 20% that Medicare doesn't. Some Medicare Advantage boast about providing aides but not sure If they pay family.

My question would be, why are you doing the caring and not one of her children?

Valcater, welcome to the forum. Please fill out the Profile Page as that will give us more information such as what are the health issues with your Grandmother. Plus give us an idea of how old you are, are you a teenager or an adult in his/her 50's.

Usually when family is taking care of a love one, it is up to the love one to pay the person doing the caregiving, if they can budget the cost. If yes, then you need to draw up an employment contract, agree on the days and time you would work, what days off, and your hourly rate. Plus would Grandmother be able to do payroll taxes? If not, there are companies that do payroll pay checks for a fee. You need payroll taxes for your future social security/Medicare.

If she has medical insurance or a social worker contact them. They can provide you an agency to get ahold of. You need to go through training and have fingerprint background checks for most agencies. Depending upon her insurance you will be approved for a certain amount of tasks with varying minutes allocated to each which add up to make a specific number of allocated hours. Each elderly person has different needs and services there is no clear follow x,y,z. But the first step is always contact insurance, social services or her Doctors first.
