He is on Medicaid too. The price of the facility is 2500.00 and if you subtract his SSI I would have to pay the difference. I need to find some help to pay the remaining balance every month. I don’t have any family that can help my parents have passed away. I have not been able to work my husband is working but we don’t have any extra funds to pay the difference. Please help I’m 51 yrs old and I’m about to break I have no friends and no life.

Does the facility except Medicaid? If so, ask his caseworker about help for longterm care. I would also go to Social services and see if he is entitled to SSI which is a supplimental income. Medicare does not pay fot Longterm care.

What kind of 'special needs' are you talking about? Are you his SSI 'Payee' or does he administer his own funds? If he is medically handicapped or invalid then a nursing home is the place for him. Medicaid pays for this.

If your son is mentally disabled the place for him would be a group home. The group home would take his SSI income and the rest is state subsidized. You would not have to pay the difference. He is already on SSI and Medicaid so he has a caseworker. Does he also have a social worker? Id not he probably should. His caseworker can put you in touch with a social worker. Or if your son is in any day programs, they can help you out with a social worker as well.

There's help out there. Start with talking to your son's Medicaid caseworker. They can point you in the right direction. Good luck.

Since your son is on Mediciad he should be assigned a social worker. You should be able to work with them to find your son additional services for full funding of this facility or a compatible living and housing facility.

He is considered an adult and should be on SSDI or SSI if unable to work as well as Mediciad.

You didn't disclose what state your are in and the eligible resources your son can receive vary. Are you in a state that requires parents to financially supplement their adult special needs child?

No, if he is on Medicaid he would be assigned a caseworker. They don't have to be actual social workers. His Medicaid caseworker would know how to get the OP in touch with a state social worker though.

I would encourage you to speak with his social worker and find out how to transition him to long term care and find a facility that accepts medicaid.

Medicaid is not 1 and done, it has different programs, ie community based, health insurance and long term care, so his social worker is who can help you find the resources.
