I was reading that after I answered all the questions I would get your rates. So far I haven't seen any information for rates. My mom has dementia, but is usually able to do her own self care's. She is just very forgetful at this point, forgetting what she said or was doing. I put on the paperwork that she is VA, but it was my dad that was VA, who passed away last Wednesday. We are looking for someone to be with her 2 days a week, for someone to stay with her while we are working.
For the record, APFM only wants to work with people who need AL and have a lot of money. They send you names of facilities to consider. Usually facilities never publish their rates -- they want you to come in and see the place. Also, prices fluctuate and printing is expensive. They don't even publish prices on their websites. Mostly because the prices are eye-watering and will send you into shock.
Maybe visit Care.com and find local options for in-home care. Otherwise I would join Nextdoor.com and ask for recommendations on AL facilities that will be closest to your community. That forum is for non-anonymous actual neighbors where you live and surrounding areas.
Right now you are speaking with a forum of caregivers. We aren't for hire. We are just answering questions and hoping to help other caregivers.
I think you must have answered an ad here for someplace like "A Place for Mom" or a caregiving agency of some kind? I can have no idea when they will get back to you, but anyone running an agency will likely have fees for daily help that is around 35.00 an hour or so. Many, such as Visiting Angels, have minimums such as three days a week four hours a day. This can make the weekly fees somewhat high.
Your first step should be to call VA and ask for a counselor to see if there are programs available to the spouse of a vet. This is your best best for low cost help. Otherwise try places like NextDoor, Visiting Angels, Care.com and etc. If you can find a phone number that may be your best way to getting through to a real human being.
Best of luck to you.
