There's nothing to respond or do when the disease and delusions are speaking.
Just keep repeating when it comes up "No one took your wine, dad".

What do you do when he gets more angry when you say that? And tells you not to return to his home until it is brought back.

So don’t go to his home. Maybe he’ll forget about it and move on to something equally annoying! It’ll always be something because that’s what they do.

My friends are no longer friends since the one with dementia accused the other one of stealing her underwear, some flash drives, cookbooks and a soup pot.

There’s no fixing this, unfortunately.

A better thought is making sure dad has an up to date medical evaluation and discuss the possibility of a medication, with his doctor, to calm his paranoia and anxiety. Trying to appease him will be an endless merry go round

No, do not get started down that road or you'll be jumping down the rabbit hole WITH your father! What if next time his dementia causes him to believe you stole a car or a 4 carat diamond ring? Your father needs to see his doctor for medication if he's obsessing over things all the time. Hopefully he's not living alone or driving.
